We are creating more high quality jobs here in Compass Informatics (March 2020).

We have recently filled a range of positions and the following are current Ireland-based positions for which we would welcome applications via submission of a CV:

  1. GIS & Spatial Analyst (Marine spatial planning). Based with the Marine Institute, Galway;
  2. Remote Sensing & Earth Observation across key pilot projects using EO / Sentinel for air quality, waste, water quality. RS/EO skills and using eCognition and other tools. Based with the EPA, Wexford;
GIS & Spatial Analyst (Marine spatial planning)

This is a great opportunity to apply GIS & spatial skills to marine planning! This role is focused on marine spatial planning and so provides an excellent and rare opportunity to develop knowledge in this domain, as you will be based at the leading Marine Institute, Ireland.

Key skills:

  • Esri ArcGIS / QGIS desktop
  • SQL geodatabase management
  • Ability to develop excellent domain knowledge so you can liaise with and delivery data analysis that is appropriate and of great value.
  • Structured approach to tasks and processes.

There is huge opportunity for skills and career development in this role, with much client and colleague interaction. Remuneration is based on salary, heath insurance, pension, CPD supports.

Remote Sensing & Earth Observation

Take the opportunity to apply and develop your remote sensing skills to key pilots across terrestrial and aquatic topics!  The topics include lake water quality, environmental noise quiet areas based on land use, illegal waste sites from land and thermal analysis.  Your work will support the EPA EO strategy and show the value of EO across a range of users. You will have proven Remote Sensing skills e.g. in eCognition, data management, imagery analysis.

Key skills:

  • Imagery analysis using eCognition, ERDAS or similar.
  • Strong data mangement skills
  • An ability to identify appropriate analysis, data sources, and outcomes for the pilot projcts.

Common to all roles:

  • Requirements for a strong aptitude and a sharp mind, open to on-going learning – more so than years of experience.
  • All roles require an accurate and precise approach to own work – including clarity in thinking, analysis or coding, documentation, liaison and discussion.
  • Excellent spoken and written English. EU or EEA passport required, or other right to work in Ireland.
  • Importantly, all roles have a rewarding salary, pension, health insurance, permanent health insurance, death in service, and CPD support.
